Featuring special performances by Camasonians Richard Schwary with daughters

Enjoy Big Band Favorites Made Famous by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey,
Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Modernaires and more!
Come and enjoy a nostalgic trip back to the mid 20th century with the
Providence Hospital Stage Band. Since the early 60’s, this 18-piece
ensemble of current and former Providence Hospital doctors and friends
has striven to keep this great music alive for future generations. More
recently vocalists Karin Fakler, Maria Blum and Ken Willeford have joined
the band to recreate some of the sounds of such 40’s vocal groups
the Modernaires.
Big band music has never really gone away. In some places it’s
as strong as ever. For the older folk it can be a delightful trip back
in time, but quite a few young people fall in love with it right from
the first beat. All high school music programs have a stage band playing
swing arrangements and some physical education programs are teaching
jitter-bug dancing.
