Special appearances by vocalist Linda Hornbuckle and pianist
Janice Scroggins Best known for their hit engagements at Portland’s Jimmy Mak’s
and their electrifying sets at the (Portland) Waterfront Blues Festival,
King Louie and Baby James bring their soulful spontaneity to the Joyce
Garver Theater stage. Be prepared to enjoy Hammond B-3 organ, an unusual
instrument that is as awkward and heavy as a commercial refrigerator,
but contributing a rich, deep, colorful tone to the blues vibe! Linda
Hornbuckle has been described as the most beautiful and powerful blues/gospel/soul
voice in the Pacific Northwest. Portland band leader Paul deLay describes
Janice Scroggins as the most gifted musician we have in Portland and
can probably lay claim to a much larger territory than that; I think
she’s a world leader, really.
